Solution Spotlight: Jeron Electronic Systems

Interviewer: Ryan O'Donnell, Chimera Integrations

Guest: Dave Daum, District Manager, Jeron Electronic Systems

Ryan: At Chimera, we’re proud to work across various healthcare settings, from acute care hospitals to elderly care, long-term care, and ambulatory surgery centers. Having a partner like Jeron enhances our value because we can combine integrated security and life safety solutions with nurse call and workflow technologies.

Now, many people know Jeron for its nurse call systems, but beyond the basic functionality of "push a button and a light goes on," what unique value does Jeron provide?

Dave: That’s a great question! Nurse call systems have been around for decades and are a staple in healthcare. What sets Jeron apart is our quality and commitment to patient care. This year marks our 60th anniversary as a family-run business. We manufacture everything in the U.S. at our headquarters in Niles, Illinois—not just assemble it, which is a key distinction.

Our focus on patient care drives our innovations. From our intuitive audio stations to integrations with existing healthcare technology, we create solutions that enhance workflows and ensure the highest level of patient care.

Ryan: Technology is just one side of the equation. At Chimera, we aim to bring these solutions to life with expert local installations and ongoing support. What benefits do facilities gain from partnering with Jeron?

Dave: It’s critical to choose the right partner. You can have the best product in the world, but ultimately, the customer’s experience depends on the ongoing support they receive. We’re proud to work with partners like Chimera, who provide 24/7 service and ensure top-quality installations.

Our products are also highly scalable, meeting the needs of growing outpatient clinics and surgery centers. With healthcare evolving towards smaller, more specialized facilities, we’re able to offer solutions that adapt to any size or type of operation.

Ryan: One thing that really stands out to me is the customization that Jeron’s software offers. How do your solutions address challenges that clinicians might not even realize can be solved with technology?

Dave: Staffing shortages are a massive challenge in healthcare. Our systems are designed to maximize the efficiency of available staff by automating manual workflows. This helps reduce communication gaps, improves patient outcomes, and streamlines operations.

For example, our integration with EMR systems and customizable workflows ensures clinicians have the right tools to focus on patient care rather than administrative tasks.

Ryan: Do you have any real-world examples of how Jeron’s technology has solved challenges for facilities?

Dave: Absolutely. One simple yet impactful feature is our audio integration in bathrooms. Falls are a significant concern, costing hospitals $60,000 to $100,000 per incident. With our system, patients can call for assistance directly from the bathroom, and caregivers receive the alert instantly on their personal devices. This reduces response time and provides reassurance to the patient, ultimately preventing falls.

We also offer solutions like brightly illuminated dome lights to indicate fall risk. These visual cues ensure that staff can monitor at-risk patients without compromising privacy, significantly reducing fall incidents.

Ryan: Integration with other technologies is another strong point of Jeron’s systems. Can you share more about how Jeron plays well with other healthcare tech?

Dave: Our system uses open architecture, allowing seamless integration with a variety of technologies like SIP phones, overhead paging, real-time location systems, and digital whiteboards. This flexibility means hospitals don’t have to replace existing systems—they can build on what they already have.

For example, we integrate with all major EMR platforms, such as Epic and Cerner, providing bi-directional data sharing. In behavioral health settings, our real-time location systems enhance staff safety by enabling duress alerts that trigger immediate, location-based responses.

Ryan: It’s clear that Jeron offers innovative and flexible solutions that enhance both patient and staff experiences. Any final thoughts for our audience?

Dave: I’d just emphasize that with Chimera and Jeron, healthcare facilities can achieve a fully integrated, scalable, and reliable system tailored to their needs. Our partnership ensures that no matter the challenge, we’re here to help solve it.
